Tool-less barrel- and calibre exchange: The Helix with its uniquely simple take-down system has not only been developed for hunting, but also for the way there.

The open OmegaGrip leads the thumb – as if on rails – along the ergonomic stock shape into shooting position on the omega grip – and out again while reloading.

The automatically height-adjustable stock comb MemoryCheek-Piece provides a reproducible shooting position on the cheek. A spring element with memory function smoothly and silently pushes the comb into the previously adjusted height at the push of a button.

The stock length can be adjusted without tools and can therefore be adapted to the shooter and his clothing. To make this possible, Merkel offers butt plate carriers in different lengths, which can be easily exchanged.

The safety system of the helix is whole: The safety of the shooter is guaranteed by a solid bolt head with six locking slugs and the closed system.

The i-Sight system offers the needs-orientated and individual configuration of the Helix’s’ open sights. As a Standard, the i-Sight bead is mounted in the front of the two barrel boreholes, it can, however, be easily switched to the rear if the muzzle thread is needed. Furthermore the front and rear sight can be detached completely, to use an over-barrel suppressor for example.

The Helix is equipped with a hand-cocking system: Only when needed the system is cocked – and as easily, with minimal sound, de-cocked if no shot has been fired.

The direct trigger of the Helix is adjustable from approx. 900 to 1.900 grams, the optional, riffled TAR-GT trigger from 500 to 1.500 grams.

A milled Picatinny rail as mount basis: the cope can be mounted easily and repeatable.

Helix magazines are made from sheet steel and protected against scratching by a polymer layer on the gripping piece. Be it a basic magazine (3-round) or the 5-round variant, it is perfect for driven hunts. Optionally, the aluminium magazine can be engraved in the Merkel factory.
